Background History

UEFA Champions League is a well prestiged soccer organization called the Union of European Football Association (UEFA). The league was founded in 1955majd rebranded in 1992 to the Champions League. Teams from all over Europe come to compete. You have Germany, Spain, Dutch, English, and Italian teams that compete to play. The point of the Champions League is the best teams from all different leagues in Europe compete to see who is the best team in Europe.

How Are Games Different

When you think of a soccer game you probably think a 90 minute game decides the winner.  But the Champions League is different because the teams play two games against each other. Each team plays an away leg and a home leg (game). But hears were it gets tricky. When you play these games your goals that you score and let in carry over into the next game. But hears how they decide a winner. When you score at home and let in a away goal you are behind even though the score is (1,1). This is because when you score a away goal it outweighs a home goal so if the score is (2,2) and one team has two away goals and the other has two home goals then the team with the away goals will win over two legs.

How Do You Qualify

The way you qualify is you have to be at the top of your league. For England teams you have to finish top four in the league. For Spain teams it’s the same you have to finish top four. For German teams you also have to finish top four. But those are not the only ways to qualify. The Europa League or lower league of Champions League can help you get into Champions League. If you win the Europa League you qualify into the Champions League. This years Europa League finalists are Chelsea vs. Arsenal and this years Champions League finalists are Liverpool vs. Tottenham (all english teams). The Champions League is very hard competition to win and leaves many player in tears when they lose.
