Messi’s Shadow
Neymar was playing for Barcelona alongside Lionel Messi in 2016. In the summer of 2016 Neymar moved to PSG for a record fee of 270 million dollars. Neymar went to PSG to get out of Messi’s shadow and show his skills. Neymar had a good first season at PSG but it went downhill from there. The next two Seasons Neymar would be fighting with injury. In the 2019 Champions League PSG would be knocked out by Manchester United without Neymar.
Kylian Mbappé
Neymar left Barcelona to get out of Messi’s shadow but got stuck in Mbappé’s shadow. Kylian is a young 20 year old talent that took the spotlight from Neymar. Kylian won the 2018 World Cup with France.

Transfer Rumors
After three seasons at PSG Neymar didn’t want to be their any more. When the summer transfer opened up in the summer 2019 Neymar made it clear in the media that he wanted to leave. The fans of PSG were not happy. The owner of PSG came out on Twitter and said that PSG was done with Neymar and that they didn’t want him anymore. Neymar wanted to go back to Barcelona to play alongside Messi again. Barcelona tried to get Neymar but were not able to make a deal with PSG. Barcelona did not have enough money after buying Antione Griezmann for 120 million. Neymar was left at PSG and might have to sit on the bench for the season until the transfer window opens up again in December.
